Natural Sulemani Hakik Mala 108 + 1 Beads
Invite calm, steady focus into your daily practice with this Natural Sulemani Hakik Mala. Hand-strung using 108+1 polished Sulemani Hakik (Black Agate) beads, this rosary works equally well as a japa mala for meditation and mantra chanting, or as a striking everyday necklace.
Each bead carries the natural bands and stripes unique to authentic Sulemani Agate. Choose the 6mm strand for a lighter, longer fit that layers well as a necklace, or the 8mm strand for bolder, temple-style beads with more presence — both carry the same 108+1 count and lab certificate.
- Gemstone: 100% Original & Natural Sulemani Hakik (Black Agate)
- Bead Size: 6mm & 8mm (Sleek, lightweight, and comfortable)
- Number of Beads: 108 + 1 Guru Bead
- Quality Grade: AAA Premium Polished Beads
- Color: Deep Black with Natural White/Grey Bands & Eye-Like Patterning
- Craftsmanship: Hand-strung with durable thread and individual protective knots between each bead for smooth Japa practice and longevity
- Meditation Anchor: The 108+1 count keeps your attention on the mantra, not the count — built for japa and daily practice, in either bead size.
- Grounding & Calm: Sulemani Hakik (Black Agate) is traditionally worn for its grounding, calming energy during meditation and prayer.
- Protective Rosary: Worn or carried daily as a traditional shield against negative energy and evil eye.
- Everyday Necklace: The natural black-and-grey banding on each bead makes it a distinctive necklace on its own, worn well beyond meditation sessions.

- Sit and settle: Sit comfortably with your spine upright. Hold the mala in your right hand, draped over your middle finger.
- Start beside the Guru bead: Begin with the bead next to the Guru (Meru) bead — this bead itself is never counted or crossed.
- Count with your thumb: Move one bead toward you with your thumb for each breath or mantra repetition, working around the strand.
- Complete a round: When you reach the Guru bead again, if continuing for another round, turn the mala around rather than crossing over it, and count back the other way.
- As a necklace: Wear it around your neck between sessions, or all day as jewellery — the 6mm sits as a slimmer, mid-length strand, while the 8mm drapes longer with bolder beads. Or keep it in its pouch and carry it with you for your next sitting.
- Keep it dry: Avoid water, sweat, swimming, or bathing while wearing it.
- Away from chemicals: Remove before applying perfume, oils, or lotion.
- Avoid direct heat: Don't leave it in a hot car or near direct flame; limit sun exposure to cleansing only.
- Store it properly: Keep in the pouch or a soft-lined box when not in use, away from harder jewellery that could scratch the beads.
- If worn daily as a necklace: Take it off before sleeping, exercising, or showering — this reduces thread strain and keeps beads from rubbing against each other over time.
- Re-string when needed: With years of daily japa, the thread can loosen — have it restrung periodically rather than waiting for a bead to fall.
- Cleanse periodically: Rest under morning sunlight for 15–20 minutes, or place on a Selenite plate, every few weeks.

Q: How many beads are on this mala? A: 108 beads plus 1 Guru (Meru) bead — the traditional count used for japa and mantra counting.
Q: Should I pick 6mm or 8mm? A: 6mm gives a longer, slimmer strand that's easy to carry and layer. 8mm gives a bolder look with larger beads on a shorter strand. Bead count is the same in both.
Q: Can I wear it daily, or only during meditation? A: Both — it's designed for japa and equally suited to everyday necklace wear. Many customers do both: meditate with it, then wear it through the day.
Q: Is this the same as a Sulemani Hakik bracelet? A: No — this is a full 108+1 bead mala meant for the neck, not the wrist. It works as a japa mala and as an everyday necklace. For wrist wear, see our Sulemani Hakik bracelet collection.
Q: Which size looks better as a necklace — 6mm or 8mm? A: The 6mm gives a slimmer, mid-length strand that layers easily with other necklaces. The 8mm is longer and bolder, with more visible bead detail — a better fit if you want it to stand out on its own.
Q: How long is the mala? A: Roughly 24 inches for the 6mm strand and 32 inches for the 8mm strand, both strung to the same 108+1 count.
Q: Does it need to be activated or energized before use? A: It ships in its natural, uncharged state. If you follow a personal energizing or activation ritual, you can do that before first use — see our full guide for step-by-step activation instructions.
Q: Will the beads lose their shine or colour over time? A: With basic care — kept dry and away from chemicals — the natural banding and polish hold up well over years of daily use.
Q: Is this mala suitable for beginners? A: Yes. It's a simple way to start a japa practice — hold it in your right hand and move one bead per breath or mantra, as outlined in How to Use It above.
